Kym’s car was beat, leaving her and her young daughter stranded many times, which caused her to lose her long-time position in management at a well-known restaurant. Her job loss caused a major setback in her journey out of homelessness and to self-sufficiency. She heard about the car maintenance outreach for single moms at New Life Church in Renton. She convinced a friend with an equally unreliable car to go with her to the church. When the two arrived at New Life Church, her friend was given a new car! Although Kym was happy for her friend, she hated that fact she felt jealous for the blessing that her friend had received. She also was in desperate need of a reliable car.
Not long after, a donor provided a wonderful car to Vision House that we were able to pass on to Kym. We surprised her with cameras rolling so we could all enjoy her reaction to the surprise. She allowed us to share it with others.
This week we got a message from someone who saw that video and has committed to buying and preparing 1-2 cars per year for worthy Vision House families.
Kym was disappointed in not receiving the car at New Life… but God had a bigger and better plan for her. She only needed to wait a few more weeks to not only receive a new car of her own, but also to to allowing her story to be shared. Her willingness to share is allowing many more homeless families to receive much needed transportation to support their journey from homelessness.
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
